How to replace the mechanical seal for your pool’s pump by James Reed | Jul 5, 2013 | Uncategorized | 4 comments We show you how to replace the mechanical seal for your pump. 4 Comments BaytownRealtor on July 6, 2011 at 3:27 am That is great, but mine does not have the cap at the end of the pump to secure the shaft. The end of mine is where the electrical components appear to be. Any idea how to secure the shaft in order to get the impeller off? I do not see a screw in the center of my impeller. Thanks for your help. I love that you went to all this trouble to help us!! MShrader211 on January 2, 2012 at 5:56 pm This video is more about how to get to the seal, with no actual info on how to remove the old seal and install the new seal (otherwise known as replacing the seal). Needs a follow-up video on how to actually replace the pump seal. To get the impeller off, jam a flat head into the vents in the motor to prevent the shaft from moving when you unscrew the impeller. The impeller is only on hand tight.
